What are the ground rules for group participation?

Each of us is encouraged to participate to whatever extent we feel comfortable.
The following ground rules are at the core of our group.
1. Confidentiality is essential, thus, it's important for each member to respect and maintain confidentiality of the group. What is said in the group is not to be repeated or discussed at any other time or place.

3. Each of the group members shares the responsibility for making this group work.
4. The group space is non-judgmental and gives everyone an opportunity to share.
6. You have the right to speak and the right to remain silent.
7. We give supportive attention to the person who is speaking and avoid interrupting. We kindly ask if we want to add something or ask a question and we have the right to refuse to answer.
8. We do not discuss group members who are not present.
9. We begin and end our meetings on time.

How to get the most of the group
It's quite common for people to be nervous to share personal issues with people they just met. If it's helpful, you may, at first, be simply listening.
Over time, however, it might be very helpful if you contribute your thoughts, ideas and experiences to the group as it will help you to get more out of a support group.
This support group isn't a substitute for your medical care but can be a great addition that will help you get through your life challenges.
If you feel that you may need extra help with the issues you are dealing with, talk to your doctor about counselling or other types of therapy.
Let's talk and discuss what could be most helpful for you at this stage. I offer free introductory 60-minute sessions to all my clients where they can discuss their issues and find strategies to deal with their lives.
